About the company

Partnerships move new water technology to market

Global Water Technologies identifies, develops and commercializes new non-chemical, filtration and other technologies to improve water efficiency. The aim is simple: better treatment, and better use of the water we already have.

As a small public company with a wide network of contacts, we can move quickly. We spot an opportunity, incubate the technology, and connect it with thousands of shareholders who want to invest in water.

The work is collaborative. We build each project with technology companies, universities and investors, and we welcome a short, specific email from anyone with an idea worth developing.

XPRIZE Water Scarcity

A seawater desalination prototype, built and tested in Indianapolis

XPRIZE Water Scarcity is a $119 million, five-year competition sponsored by the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative to make seawater desalination reliable, sustainable and affordable. Our team was selected as one of 93 qualified teams from 674 registered teams in 86 countries.

Our Qualified Testing Prototype System combines traditional seawater reverse osmosis with capacitive deionization, UV-C LED disinfection and brine management. It produces one cubic meter of drinking water a day, and in December 2025 it completed 14 days of qualified testing.

We built it with UCC Environmental, US Water Systems, Voltea and AquiSense Technologies. The team was not selected as one of the Top 20 semi-finalists; the system and the partnerships behind it are now part of our active discussions about a potential capital raise and M&A.

Reverse osmosis
01Reverse osmosisTraditional seawater reverse osmosis with dual membranes does the first, heaviest share of the work.
Capacitive deionization
02Capacitive deionizationSecondary treatment from Voltea, whose systems remove dissolved salts from water using electricity.
UV-C LED disinfection
03UV-C LED disinfectionPost-treatment disinfection with UV-C LEDs from AquiSense Technologies.
Produced drinking water
04Produced drinking waterThe system produces one cubic meter of drinking water a day.
Brine management
05Brine managementWhat the membranes leave behind is managed as part of the system, with an eye on water recovery and energy use.
Electro-hydrodynamic evaporation
06Electro-hydrodynamic evaporationThe brine is reduced on the bench using electro-hydrodynamic evaporation.

A Wish for Water

Our entry in Future Vision XPRIZE is a film trailer about water and a hopeful view of the future. It uses real footage shot in Peru, Honduras, Brazil, Mexico and the United States, combined with AI images and characters, original music, and artwork made from our XPRIZE water samples.

How we create value

Four stages from a promising technology to shareholder value

  1. 1.Technology

We identify new technologies that fit our mission and have a good chance to create value as they are developed and brought to market.

  2. 2.Project

Project teams move the selected technologies forward, using our resources and our partners' to complete technical and market analysis and successful pilot testing.

  3. 3.Subsidiary

Technologies that show market potential at the project level become subsidiaries, built to commercialize them and generate operating profits.

  4. 4.Exit

We license the technology or sell the subsidiary to recognize value for Global Water Technologies shareholders.

Our technology portfolio

Four lines of work at different points on the path from technology to exit.
